Punta Zicatela Beach
Playa Punta Zicatela is the southernmost end of Playa Zicatela in Puerto Escondido, so tourists often confuse both beaches, but their differences are notable. Playa Zicatela is known for having the third largest wave in the world, while Playa Punta Zicatela is ideal for amateur surfers or learners. They are located at the extremes (Zicatela extreme north, Punta Zicatela, extreme south).

It is a large beach, with medium fine sand, with a sea of ββblue and turquoise tones, normal to large waves, rough sea but not so dangerous, it allows swimming as long as it is carefully. There are some bars and restaurants located on the beach, but also, the main street of the Brisas de Zicatela neighborhood is just a few meters from the beach, which allows you to get food or drinks at any time you want.
There are not many shady places so it is recommended to bring your own umbrella or rent one to withstand the strongest hours.

One of the main attractions of Punta Zicatela is its friendly waves to take some surf lessons. If youβve never tried it, this is a good opportunity to do it!
You can also enjoy lying in the sun and if you are one of those who suffer from the heat, the ideal time to visit this beach is at sunset accompanied by a delicious cold coconut or an ice cold beer.
How to get there?
To get to Punta Zicatela beach you have several options: you can do it on foot along Zicatela beach, it is approximately 3 kilometers that you can walk along the seashore. If you suffer from heat and prefer to take transport, from the center you can take any of the passengers (public buses) that for a very accessible cost will leave you on the road and the main street of the Brisas de Zicatela neighborhood, there you will have to walk about 10 minutes straight down that same street, until it ends, and there you will find access to the beach. Finally, you can take a taxi from the center and ask it to drop you directly at the entrance.
