Good to Know

Moon phases affect the intensity;
the darkest nights (new moon) produce the most vivid bioluminescence. We always choose the lagoon with the best conditions for your date.
The water is warm and safe for swimming;
no prior swimming experience is required โ€” life jackets are provided and your guide is always with you in the water.
Photography is welcome;
to capture the bioluminescence, use a camera with good low-light capabilities or a smartphone with night mode. Keep in mind that capturing bioluminescence can be challenging โ€” but the memories will last a lifetime.
No sunscreen in the lagoon;
chemical products harm the bioluminescent plankton. Avoid applying sunscreen, lotions, or insect repellent before getting in the water. You can reapply after.
About four and a half hours total;
pickup at 5:30 PM, back at your hotel by approximately 10:00 PM. Transfer time depends on which lagoon we visit: 20 minutes to Manialtepec or 1 hour 15 minutes to Chacahua.
