Wild & Untouched

La Barra de Colotepec is a long, wild beach at the mouth of the Colotepec River, north of Puerto Escondido. Largely undeveloped and rarely visited by tourists, it offers kilometers of empty sand, interesting surf conditions created by the river mouth, and a sense of raw, untamed nature that's increasingly rare on the Mexican coast. Sea turtles nest here during the July–December season.

For the Adventurous

This beach is for those who enjoy solitude and unmanicured nature. There are no restaurants or facilities β€” bring everything you need. The river estuary supports diverse birdlife, and the beach itself is ideal for long walks and photography. A moto-taxi from Rinconada takes about 10 minutes.
